At Crawford Architects, we recently completed a challenging yet fulfilling project that showcases our expertise in repurposing existing structures. Our task involved transforming two ground floor plus basement commercial premises that were struggling into three duplex apartments that offer a superior level of accommodation.

Repurposing existing buildings requires a deep understanding of architectural intricacies and building regulations. Our team conducted a comprehensive survey of the property, carefully analyzing its original framework to identify key elements while seamlessly integrating contemporary amenities.

We were able to identify locations for light wells to the rear, without any need for further excavations or significant structural alterations. The plans below show the ‘before’ (no colouring) and the ‘after’ (shades of grey differentiating between units).
